Kids who are interested in making a difference in our world can learn how to do this in a fun summer camp setting with other like-minded kids at YEA Camp: Youth Empowered Action Camp!
YEA camp asks your child...
"Have you ever wished you could make more of a difference in the world? There are so many ways you can!
Maybe you're concerned about global warming, about violence in your neighborhood, about ending homelessness or animal cruelty, or about everyone having the right to get married? Maybe you just don't think it's fair that school starts so early?! If you want to make a difference in the world, and want to meet other young leaders who feel the same way, have we got an opportunity for you! Join us for Youth Empowered Action Camp -- almost a week of people and activities you will never forget."
YEA CAMP VIDEO:
I happened upon a link to YEA camp in my monthly issue of VegNews, and visited their website. I was immediately impressed by this meaningful program, and knew that my tween age daughter would love to be a part of this important event. Lately, she has been expressing a desire to switch to a vegan diet, and has become aware of the horrors of factory farming and GMOs. YEA camp will give her a chance to further explore these ideas for positive change in a supportive environment... how cool is that?
In addition to delicious, organic, vegan meals (Please let YEA camp administration know of any allergies or special dietary needs when you register) YEA camp offers creative, interactive workshops to help campers develop an issue of importance to them and leave camp with new skills, a plan of action, increased self confidence, and a community of friends and mentors to support them for years to come.
Of course, YEA campers will also have free time to rest, hang out, play games, be silly, and just do "whatever"! Campers may play basketball or ultimate Frisbee, make art, have an open mic, and much more!

YEA Camp Testimonials: See what campers, parents, and staff have to say about YEA...
"I wanted to let you know how wonderful and vital your YEA camp was for our daughter! She not only loved her time there, but she came back with something which I believe will be of lasting value to her, namely a sense that she can make a difference in the world. The camp, along with your follow-up encouragement, helped her focus her enthusiasm for her cause of vegetarianism and sustainability into positive action. She wrote to a vegetarian activist organization, obtained literature from them, and spent the better part of a Saturday morning in our local neighborhood merchant district, handing out the pamphlets and talking to people about the problems with factory animal farming. She felt a real sense of accomplishment in this. I don’t know how many people she influenced in her efforts, but the experience opened doors to new methods and thought processes, and I am confident that she will be able to draw from this experience for years to come." -Mike, dad of 13-year-old Jesse, San Francisco, CA
"Camp was awesome. I really liked being here and I think that it's a really good opportunity for lots of people. Its a great way to meet new people. All the people here are my friends now. When I go home I'm definitely going to follow up on my issue, and I really want to make a difference. It's different --its not just 'let's stay in touch.' You have a mentor during the year to help on your project. I was a little worried about eating vegan food for a week, but it was really good! Everything tasted good!"-Jesse, 13, San Francisco, CA
My daughter is attending YEA camp this summer, and she and I are both thrilled! I will be posting a review of her experiences at camp later this summer, so stay tuned! In the meantime, there is still time to sign your child up for the California or Oregon YEA camp sessions in July and August!
It's time to help our children learn how to make a difference... YEA!
